New and Upcoming Training and Services Added to the Rehab Program!

Driver Permit and Driver Education Training – December 1, 2017 we added training much needed and requested for this area.  Jay Dill, certified and with several years of experience is our instructor.  Classes are open to anyone 14 or older, consumers of Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) or private individuals.  Contact Tammy Kingston or Martin Gwin at (256) 820-9960 to schedule a class.

Forklift Training – April 1, 2018 we will offer training that will provide certification and experience on our equipment.  Many manufacturing companies in our area require experience as a requirement for employment.  Classes are open to consumers or private individuals 18 or older.  Contact Clifford Clark at (256) 820-9960 to schedule a class. 

Basic Finance – This is a study of personal finance which offers basic skills in balancing a checkbook, opening a checking or savings account, credit management, and managing a personal budget.  We a targeting April 1 to begin these classes.  Contact Tammy Kingston or Martin Gwin if you are interested.  Number is (256) 820-9960.

Smart Work Ethics (Workforce Employability Skills) – Classes designed for 10th through 12th grade  transitional or ADRS consumers.  The students are assessed based on the Myer-Briggs Type indicator.  The 40 hour class addresses career readiness topics such as attitude/work ethic, power of image, interpersonal skills, cognitive skills, organizational skills, and personal life skills.  The classes are taught in a high school classroom by our certified professional.  Qualified students see your high school counselor.

JET Program – A career preparation course taught in the summer.  The course is taught for 3 2-week sessions, a half day class and a half day work in an employment situation.  This is also a transitional or ADRS qualified program; see your school counselor for more information.

Program SEARCH – A 9-month internship for transitional students immediately following their senior year of high school. This is a career development program in a large business.  Students spend class and work time in 3 work areas of the business.  Counselors work individually with each student to develop career skills and to be placed in employment by the end of the 9-month.  RMC is our local employer for 10 interns.  See your school counselor for information.
